How to test if I have no STIs?
Question in full: How do I book a test to make sure I have no sexually transmitted diseases?
Dear 19 year old male who wants an STI test. First of all I must congratulate you on being so sensible! A full sexually transmitted infection (STI) screen every now and then is a great idea if you have ever had unprotected sex. It is an especially good idea if you are starting a new relationship and both of you get screened. You can get an STI screen at your GP surgery, but this will remain on your health records. If you do not want this, you can go to your local genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic. They are experts at doing these screens, and will probably get results quicker than your GP. They can also keep things anonymous if that’s what you want. The GUM clinic might be in the hospital, or in a separate building, but you should be able to find contact details on your hospital’s website.
